“Now only domestic ones”: the media found out when and what cars Russian deputies will be transferred to

In the near future, State Duma vice-speakers and leaders of Duma factions will begin driving exclusively Aurus cars. This was reported by the Vedomosti newspaper, citing sources in the lower house of parliament.

At the same time, the heads of the committees can be provided with Lada Aura cars. According to the newspaper, the replacement of cars of the State Duma management will take place during 2024. Thus, the State Duma has already received 33 Lada Vesta cars, which deputies will have to switch to this year.

Moskvich cars will also be supplied to the State Duma, but which model will be available to deputies has not yet been specified.

Previously, parliamentarians used Ford Mondeo and Hyundai. And Genesis was assigned to the State Duma vice-speakers and faction leaders, and BMW and Genesis were assigned to the heads of committees.

The NEWS.ru publication writes, citing auto expert Ivan Zenkevich, that in Lada Vesta cars, deputies will “probably carry pies, correspondent mail, gifts for friends and comrades.” “I doubt deputies will use this vehicle much. This car is of a lower class than those that deputies drive. They have better cars of their own. Why will they switch to Vesta? As a PR move, maybe it’s good,” added Zenkevich.

Let us recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin last year recommended that Russian officials use domestic cars, “although they are more modest than Mercedes or Audi.”
