In St. Petersburg, in the coming year, comprehensive support will be provided to families with children. As the governor of the Northern capital, Alexander Beglov, noted on Radio Russia – St. Petersburg, 2024 was declared by the President of Russia as the Year of the Family: “In his New Year’s address, the head of state recalled that “a real, large family is one where children grow up, where attention, warmth and care for parents, love and respect for each other reign.”
The governor of St. Petersburg said that the city begins the new year with concrete steps in the interests of family, motherhood and childhood.
First of all, from January 1, the cost of living was increased by 9.5%.
In addition, social support measures will become even more accessible, such as payments of child benefits, additional payments to pensions, and payments of state social assistance to relevant categories of citizens.
City authorities have determined quotas for the provision of vouchers to recreation organizations for children and youth, as well as the cost of such vouchers. In total, 3 billion 538 million rubles were allocated for these purposes, of which 45 million rubles will be additional costs for paying for certificates that will be sold this winter.
According to Beglov, this year work will be completed to eliminate the accumulated deficit of social institutions – the city will receive new kindergartens in Shushary, Northern Valley, Sosnovaya Polyana and on Archive Street in the Nevsky District; on the alluvial territories of Vasilyevsky Island, on Yuntolovsky Prospekt in the Primorsky district. In the village of Pargolovo, two buildings will be commissioned to house adult and children’s clinics.
As the governor recalled, at the end of last year it was possible to solve another equally serious social problem – the fourth building of the Lomonosov residential complex was put into operation. This building became the last problematic building in which defrauded shareholders were supposed to receive apartments. In general, over 5 years, about 60 houses have been put into operation in the city.
