How to stay healthy in the face of changes in atmospheric pressure: advice from a cardiologist

Cardiologist Yuri Serebryansky, Honored Doctor of Russia, shared with RT recommendations regarding behavior in conditions of a sharp change in atmospheric pressure and its possible impact on well-being.

The expert noted that people suffering from increased intracranial pressure and migraines may experience malaise due to sudden changes in atmospheric pressure. To prevent negative consequences, Serebryansky recommends measuring blood pressure in the morning and evening three days before the expected change and keeping diaries.

The cardiologist also warned that people with coronary heart disease may experience discomfort such as squeezing pain and heaviness in the heart area.

To cope with negative manifestations, Serebryansky recommends refraining from drinking alcohol, reducing physical and psychological stress, and limiting the consumption of salt, coffee and strong tea. Instead, he advises drinking lemon balm, chamomile, bergamot, or green teas, but with caution, as some of them can increase blood pressure.

Anatoly Tsygankov, deputy head of the situation center of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, also warned of a sharp change in pressure in Moscow in the coming days, associated with the arrival of a cyclone from the north of the Urals.
