Russia will test seven ballistic missiles in 2024

In 2024, the Russian military will carry out seven launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles. Such plans are being hatched by the Russian Ministry of Defense, the press service clarified, RIA Novosti writes.

It is clarified that the tests will be carried out by the Russian Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN).

In total, over the past five years, the missile forces have conducted 20 test launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles, the defense department added.

According to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, the main focus now is on developing infrastructure for strategic nuclear forces. Thus, in 2023, 592 high-tech facilities were created to accommodate the Sarmat, Avangard and Yars missile systems.

In the collection of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation “Army in Figures” for last year it is specified that the Strategic Missile Forces in 2023 put on combat duty in Russia over 15 launchers of missile systems and more than five modern control points. Among other things, the Strategic Missile Forces were re-equipped from Topol mobile ground-based missile systems to Yarsy ones. The level of equipment with modern weapons in the Strategic Missile Forces at the end of 2023 was 88%, noted in the text.

In the fall of 2023, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the launch of military satellites. It was noted that the Soyuz-2.1b medium-class launch vehicle with the devices launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome. In total, from November 8, 2004 to May 27, 2023, 61 launches of Soyuz-2.1a rockets were carried out, and 254 spacecraft were launched into orbit. Also, at the end of last year in Russia, under the leadership of Russian President Vladimir Putin, training of nuclear deterrent forces took place.
