Chicken meat has disappeared from stores in some regions of Russia. Local residents reported this, writes the portal NEWS.ru.
Thus, buyers from Samara, Yekaterinburg and Chelyabinsk reported meat missing from the shelves. As TVSamara.ru reports, there are no chicken thighs, wings, or breasts on the shelves. At the same time, beef and pork are available.
In Chelyabinsk, too, there is no chicken on store shelves, writes the local publication 74.RU. The media also cites a comment from the regional Ministry of Agriculture, which stated that there are no problems with the supply of chicken.
The E1.RU portal notes that in Yekaterinburg there are also empty shelves in stores where there used to be chicken products. This is the picture in many supermarkets, the publication claims.
Let us recall that at the end of December, the Russian government approved a resolution providing for the abolition of customs duties on the import of frozen domestic chicken meat in the amount of up to 140 thousand tons to stabilize prices. According to the document, the measure will be in force from January 1 to December 31, 2024.
The day before, the price of eggs in the Russian Federation sharply increased, rising by 10–20% in 46 regions. It was reported that the FAS is checking chicken and egg producers for cartel collusion. The president of the country had to intervene in the situation. He apologized for the problems with this product. Officials promised that there would be no shortage of eggs in the Russian Federation – they would be purchased in Azerbaijan and Turkey.
Earlier, the expert told what would happen next with prices in the Russian Federation.
