The doctor explained who is contraindicated from going to the bathhouse

Moscow doctor Andrei Tyazhelnikov spoke about the mortal danger of the bathhouse for some categories of citizens. According to him, in some cases, a trip to the steam room can result in a stroke.

The chief freelance specialist in primary health care for adults at the capital’s Department of Health, in an interview with Moscow 24, warned against visiting the bathhouse after drinking alcohol. “Weak walls (of vessels – editor’s note) may not withstand the pressure and burst. If a cerebral vessel is damaged, then a trip to the steam room can result in a stroke,” explained Tyazhelnikov.

The specialist also urged people with hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, heart disease, kidney pathologies and cancer to avoid procedures with hot steam. Moreover, according to him, it is better to avoid baths during periods of exacerbation of chronic diseases.

“During bath procedures, infectious diseases may worsen, the temperature may rise, and a life-threatening condition may arise. Under the influence of high temperature, there is a risk of complications of chronic conditions,” Tyazhelnikov warned.

In general, the doctor allowed me to visit the sauna once a week, noting that for the first time it is best to go into the steam room for three to five minutes and gradually increase the time.

Previously, doctor Tyazhelnikov named a simple way to burn calories after a New Year’s feast.
