Belgorod, a city in the Belgorod region bordering Ukraine, came under fire.
According to the head of Belgorod, Vyacheslav Gladkov, children were killed and several people were injured from the Ukrainian Armed Forces strike in the center of Belgorod. He added that air defense is working over the city.
The strikes occurred in the area of the Mayak shopping center, where New Year’s events are traditionally held. A hit was reported in Belgorod’s Central Park and the city Christmas tree near the government building. An air raid alarm is heard. It is clarified that there are also hits in the residential sector.
The Mash Telegram channel disseminated information that the death toll had increased to three. 112 reported that the death toll had risen to 4. According to various sources, about 30 people were injured.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations issued a message to residents of Belgorod asking them to leave their homes and move to shelter.
At the same time, Bryansk Governor Alexander Bogomaz reported on Telegram that a child born in 2014 was killed as a result of shelling of the villages of Kister and Borshchevo, Pogarsky District. He added that more than ten shells from MLRS were fired at civilian targets. Bogomaz did not provide details. He only said that the necessary assistance was provided to the family of the deceased.
Earlier, on the night of December 29, it was reported that regions of the Russian Federation were attacked massively by drones. The Ministry of Defense clarified that at least 32 drones were shot down.
