Russian shopping centers are faced with a shortage of tenants

In 2023, online shopping gained momentum, developing at a rapid pace. Even in small towns, pick-up points for goods from online stores have begun to appear. At the same time, large shopping centers found themselves in a difficult situation due to the increasing number of vacant premises. Such data was presented by Mikhail Khorkov, head of the analytical committee of the Russian Guild of Realtors, in an interview with aif.ru.

It is especially difficult for regional shopping centers. Previously, most of the space here was occupied by large brands that left the Russian market.

“This is the main problem in this sector. The pandemic has only made an already difficult situation worse for malls, and they continue to look for ways to adapt. The composition of tenants is changing, conditions are becoming more flexible. But, on the other hand, this also opens up additional opportunities for entrepreneurs who have plenty to choose from,” explains the analyst.

One of the possible ways to attract customers to a shopping center is to organize additional entertainment and educational formats. Another idea is to allow people to receive government services at a time that suits them.
