The Bank Deposit Insurance Agency (ABC) announced that the deposit insurance system will apply to the accounts and deposits of a number of additional categories of legal entities, as well as persons engaged in legal and notary activities.
“The operation of the deposit insurance system (DIS) has been expanded to the accounts of public organizations that are trade unions (trade union organizations), medium-sized enterprises and socially oriented non-profit organizations. The funds of lawyers, notaries and other individuals who have opened accounts (deposits) for professional activities (with the exception of financial market participants) will be insured,” the DIA explained.
Similar norms provide for changes made to the federal law “On insurance of deposits in banks of the Russian Federation”. The document was signed by President Vladimir Putin and published on the legal information portal. It will come into force in 90 days. Funds placed on deposits and accounts from this date will be considered insured; protection will begin to apply in cases of insured events occurring from this moment.
The limit of insurance compensation per depositor is, as in the already existing provisions for deposits of individuals, 1 million 400 thousand rubles in one bank.
