With the arrival of Christmas, the LGTBI+ State Federation has released a documentary called ‘The Dinner I Chose‘, which has more than 80 LGTBI+ people who enjoy a Christmas dinner “without closets.” Thanks to this action, the Federation claims to have given a “safe space to anonymous LGTBI+ people, activists and influencers”, denouncing that many “are forced to pretend to be who they are not in order to return home” on these important dates.

The president of the LGTBI+ State Federation, Uge Sangilbelieves that LGTBI+ people suffer LGTBIphobia in the place where “they should receive the most support”, which is the family. Additionally, remember that the ‘LGTBI+ State 2023’ report states that one in three LGTBI+ people (33%) has had to go live with friends or relatives; Almost 20% (16.7%) have had to live in an unsuitable place and 4% have had to sleep on the street.

Personalities such as Estrella Extravaganza have joined this documentary; Okuda San Miguel; Marlena (Ana Legazpi and Carolina Moyano); Carla Flila; Dani Marrero; Ariel Rec; Keunam; Marcus Massalami Shannade Morgan; Luis Toxicity; Mimi XXL; Nuria Adraos or Killer Queen.

“While I was talking normally about my sexuality, my family was making comments like ‘you’ll get over those things‘ either ‘that’s not normal‘”, says one of the people attending the dinner.

However, the comments do not stop there, hearing phrases like: “Come more normally dressedyou already know how your sister gets”; “please stop hugging her on the terrace because the neighbors are going to see you”; or “What’s wrong with you, Ricky Martin? when did you become transsexual?“.
