The National Student Football League presented the Igor Gamula Super League challenge cups

In Krasnodar, on December 22, at the Kuban State University, a ceremony was held to present and hand over the unique challenge cups of the Igor Gamula Super League of the top division of the National Student Football League.

The ceremony was attended by NSFL President Andrei Stukalov, the daughter of the famous Soviet football player and Russian coach Igor Gamula Ekaterina Gamula, KubSU Rector Mikhail Astapov, Deputy Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the Krasnodar Territory Alexey Ivanov and Chairman of the Krasnodar Regional Football Federation Ivan Peronko.

Before the tenth anniversary season, the NSFL presented three unique Igor Gamula Super League challenge cups: a 30-kilogram trophy, made in an updated style and reflecting the history of the competition, will be awarded to teams that take first, second and third places in the elite group. Throughout the year, the cups will be displayed at universities and available to an audience of thousands of students.

“Over the course of nine years, our league has experienced many unique events despite the various challenges we have faced. In order to preserve our history and celebrate the significance of not only first, but also second and third place in the National College Football League, and to popularize football in universities, it was decided to make three challenge cups at once, differing only in color. Winning the NSFL is a tough task. Getting into the winners is no less difficult. Now every year we will honor the three best teams in the country at once,” said NSFL President Andrei Stukalov.

In the 2023 season, 51 teams from 29 regions of Russia took part in six groups of the NSFL top division. In the premier group – the Igor Gamula Super League – the team of Kuban State University became the champion, scoring 34 points in 15 matches. For the fourth time in their history, KubSU football players became the strongest team in the NSFL.
