Chefs from St. Petersburg shared their secrets at the Russia exhibition

The gastronomic festival “St. Petersburg Cuisine” has become one of the popular venues for the St. Petersburg Day program at the international exhibition and forum “Russia”, which takes place at VDNKh in Moscow. As a RosBalt correspondent reports, festival guests had the opportunity to learn interesting culinary recipes and secrets of experienced chefs.

“The program includes film screenings, shows, lectures, a gastrofestival, and an immersive performance. Everything to reveal the versatility of the Northern capital. And also to show our city in development: from the glorious past of Peter the Great to the comfortable, progressive present,” said Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg Alexander Belsky in his Telegram channel.

St. Petersburg is currently the only UNESCO creative city in Russia in the Gastronomy category. In November, it officially secured its status as the culinary capital of the country and received a certificate from the Federal Service for Intellectual Property. The city was issued a certificate for the trademark “St. Petersburg – the culinary capital of Russia” with a 10-year validity period.

According to the organizers of the culinary festival at the VDNKh site, the development and release of new gastronomic brands of the territories allows not only to unite the efforts of local government and business, but also to attract new tourists.

The gastronomic festival “St. Petersburg Cuisine” introduces guests to the dishes of famous chefs and reveals their professional secrets.

Today, the House of Russian Cuisine has organized a special program of master classes, where experienced chefs show how to bake pink pancakes according to Arina Rodionovna’s recipe and real St. Petersburg crumpets, cook traditional Guryev porridge, and also make Novomikhailovsky cutlets and eggs with caviar and cream. Those who love complex recipes will be pleased to learn the secrets of preparing almond blancmange with red berry foam and French waffle, veal brisket with baked onions and Kampot pepper sauce with shiso, scallop with herring caviar and pickled dill and unique and world-famous Pavlova cake with lemon curd and fresh raspberries.

A special atmosphere of the holiday is created by a concert program in which the state dance ensemble “Barynya”, the vocal group “Philharmonic”, the children’s classical ballet “Nadezhda”, young vocalists of the group “Mosaic”, soloists of the Bolshoi Theater Anna Grigorieva and Sofya Ukhova take part.

Gastronomic tourism is a priority area of the “New Tourist Geography”, developed by the Committee for Tourism Development of St. Petersburg. Promoting culinary attractions provides a unique opportunity to add new points to the classic map of city attractions. At the same time, tourists are attracted by various city programs related to the development of gastronomy: the city is implementing the “St. Petersburg Cuisine” project, uniting more than 30 restaurants, and St. Petersburg has also joined the “Gastronomic Map of Russia”, where ten city catering establishments are already represented.
