Alexander Beglov presented the achievements of St. Petersburg at the Russia exhibition

At VDNKh, where the international exhibition and forum “Russia” is taking place these days, today St. Petersburg Day took place. As a correspondent of the RosBalt news agency reports, in a welcoming video message, Governor Alexander Beglov, speaking about the successes of the Northern capital, emphasized that the city has been globally renewed in recent years, and the exhibition “Russia” contains the main achievements that are associated with the decisions and instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

As Beglov noted, the founder of St. Petersburg saw the city as advanced, and today Vladimir Putin continues the work of Peter the Great.

The governor named the key city projects implemented with the support of the president as the Lakhta Center, which was built after Gazprom relocated to the banks of the Neva; Western High-Speed Diameter, which was being worked on by the St. Petersburg City Hall back in the 2000s; the Gazprom Arena stadium, which became possible due to the fact that for the first time in the history of our country, Russia hosted the World Cup.

Also, according to Beglov, it was thanks to the policies of Vladimir Putin that school education in St. Petersburg became career-oriented. Now the city government is pooling the resources of colleges and businesses to address the president’s workforce development challenge. The city operates a network of quantoriums and IT centers for children in the supplementary education system; engineering schools and science classes are being launched together with universities.

In addition, thanks to the president, the Museum of the Defense and Siege of Leningrad was preserved on its historical site in Solyanoy Lane and is now actively developing.

Another important aspect of city policy concerns public transport – now it is all social and environmentally friendly. Three quarters of city buses have been switched to gas fuel, which has reduced harmful emissions into the atmosphere by 26 thousand tons per year. At the same time, as the governor noted, federal loans for the purchase of rolling stock were supported by the president. In addition, St. Petersburg began the largest renewal of electric transport in the city’s history and the construction of a fleet of electric buses.

Ecology is an absolute priority of St. Petersburg, emphasized Alexander Beglov. By order of the president, all city boiler houses were switched to environmentally friendly fuel. In addition, the city authorities commissioned the Okhtinsky collector ahead of schedule, and now 99.7% of the wastewater into the Neva is purified.
