Red caviar has become one of the most popular New Year’s delicacies. However, it may pose some health risks.
The chief specialist of the Moscow Regional Research Clinical Institute named after Vladimirsky (MONIKI) Natalya Morozova spoke about this in an interview with Ridus.ru. She noted that the main contraindication to eating sandwiches with red caviar is an allergy to it.
However, for those who have problems with the gastrointestinal tract, eating caviar can also be dangerous, causing an exacerbation of pancreatitis, cholecystitis and cholelithiasis.
In addition, doctors sometimes encounter the phenomenon of false allergies. After New Year’s, people begin to experience symptoms similar to an allergic reaction, although it is not caused by an allergen. This may be due to the consumption of a variety of snacks, spices, smoked meats and pickles, which provoke the release of histamine. Red caviar contains many beneficial elements for health: easily digestible protein, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, vitamins, iodine, phosphorus and calcium. However, experts remind that red caviar also contains a significant amount of salt – approximately 10 grams per 100 grams of product. According to WHO recommendations, salt intake should not exceed 4.5 grams per day along with all food throughout the day.
