We start with this year’s absolute hit, the story of Lampo. The box office results speak for themselves – this film was seen by over 720,000 viewers, which is one of this year’s records. Lampo, a seemingly ordinary dog, could do extraordinary things. What would that be? This dog was traveling by train.
Meet Lampo, Zuzia’s friend
The literary prototype of the film “” was a book by Roman Pisarski written in the 1960s. The author was inspired by real events from Italy. There lived Lampo – Italian for lightning – a wise mongrel who could do a lot out of love for his guardians. Oblivious to difficulties and obstacles, he returned to the children he loved. Did they throw him off the train? Too bad, Lampo got in again and drove.
The creators of the modernized Polish film version of the story about the brave mongrel read Roman Pisarski’s book. The action of the film directed by Magdalena Nieæ takes place a bit here and now, but is a bit immersed in the past. The train station looks like it’s straight out of old photos, and Lampo, the train-riding dog, is an internet star.

The film “About the Dog Who Rided the Railway” delighted critics and the audience, which means he succeeded in a very difficult task. At this year’s FPFF in Gdynia he received the Golden Lion. In the film, next to the excellent little actress Liliana Zajbert, who played the main character, Zuzia, there were great Polish actors.
