There is just over a week left before the New Year arrives. Many people are now deciding where to celebrate this holiday and where to go for the upcoming holidays.
The director of one of the travel companies, Nikolai Melnik, shared with Ridus.ru journalists information about the most popular destinations for New Year’s holidays among Russians.
Krasnaya Polyana resorts are in demand among those who are used to relaxing on a grand scale. It will cost much more to spend a vacation there than in the UAE, Melnik noted. He also added that the proposal applies to four and five-star hotels, which can organize a special New Year’s program. This direction is chosen by people with high incomes, including media personalities and political figures.
Five-star hotels in the center of Sochi are also popular. The prices here are also not low.
Among foreign destinations, heat-loving Russians prefer Egypt, the UAE, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Cuba. For example, Egypt is one of the most affordable options. In December, the price of a trip per person starts from 20 thousand rubles. Celebrating the New Year in Egypt will cost no less than 60 thousand for each person.
In Thailand, the UAE and Sri Lanka, prices are even higher. Trips to Cuba are among the most expensive: from 120 thousand rubles per person.
Middle-class Russians choose cities such as Kaliningrad, Kazan, Tyumen, as well as the Leningrad region and Karelia for their holidays. There are popular hot springs in Tyumen: there you can spend New Year’s Eve outdoors, while in the pool. And many tourists go to Kaliningrad in search of gastronomic experiences. Some Russians want to visit Father Frost in Veliky Ustyug or in Karelia, where their own Father Frost lives.
