Tourist flow to Crimea in 2023 fell by 20%

The tourist flow to Crimea by the end of 2023 will be about 5 million people, which is 20% lower than last year’s figure, said the Minister of Resorts and Tourism of the Republic Vadim Volchenko.

“We understand that at the end of the year there will be somewhere a little more than 5 million – this is approximately 21-20% lower than in the previous period. When we compared summer to summer, the drop was 28%, so we are winning back little by little,” Interfax quotes him as saying.

The minister emphasized that for the tourism industry the year passed “in difficult logistics and information conditions.” At the same time, according to his assessment, economic indicators were “not much lower than in previous periods.” Demand for holidays in Crimea during the New Year holidays has grown significantly this year: at the moment, the average booking level exceeds 50%, in some hotels up to 90% occupancy is expected, Volchenko added.

“I think next year will be more active. Now there are all the prerequisites for this. There are quite active bookings and payments for the summer period, which was not the case last year,” he said.

Let us remind you that the flow of tourists to Crimea began to fall after the cessation of air traffic. The authorities announced the development of additional measures to support the industry. Currently, in Crimea and Sevastopol there is a high, “yellow” level of terrorist threat, as well as a medium level of response.
