Vladimir Putin: Imposing restrictions on transport on New Year’s Eve is too difficult

It is too difficult to impose restrictions on transport on New Year’s Eve, said Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to him, RIA Novosti reports, this measure “will create many problems.”

We will remind, earlier it became known that the State Duma will withdraw from consideration the bill on the introduction of QR codes in transport. How reported State Duma Chairman Viacheslav Volodin in his Telegram channel, the issue of removing the bill from the agenda will be discussed on Monday at the State Duma Council. He said that this decision was influenced by “the dialogue of the State Duma with the government on the basis of taking into account the views of the regions and citizens’ appeals.” At the same time, RBC, citing sources in the Ministry of Transport and the State Duma informsthat work on the document will be continued.

Prior to that, Putin assured that the authorities will try avoid any “rash decisions” with the introduction of the QR code system at the federal level. Putin stressed that the law on QR codes already submitted to the State Duma is of a framework nature, it will still be finalized, including with the participation of the regions.

After the law was withdrawn from consideration, Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov announced the “principled position” of the authorities on this document. “The interests of the people are an absolute priority when considering such complex bills,” said Peskov. He stressed that the bill on QR codes in transport will be finalized, since in its current form it cannot guarantee the absence of negative consequences for people.
