Residents of the Northern capital are increasingly receiving complaints about the quality of snow removal in areas managed by management companies. This is evidenced by messages posted on the Our St. Petersburg portal, as well as calls received to the hotline of the city improvement committee.
Meanwhile, road workers have removed a record 800 thousand cubic meters of snow from St. Petersburg streets since the beginning of winter. This week, the enterprises of the improvement committee are sending 20-30 thousand cubic meters to recycling points every day. Today, 900 vehicles and 924 specialists from road companies are involved in clearing the city of snow, and 276 tractors and 945 green workers clean parks and squares.
As the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, emphasized, in order to successfully cope with the consequences of snowfalls, it is necessary to consolidate the efforts of city services and management companies.
Utility companies work harmoniously, but private management organizations in some cases do not fulfill their responsibilities.
Some of them refer to the changeability of the weather: during a snowfall it is not economically feasible to clear, during a hurricane wind it is physically difficult and sometimes unsafe, but during a thaw there seems to be no need anymore – the snow is about to melt on its own. Others complain about parked cars interfering with the work of equipment and windshield wipers. And many simply prefer not to answer calls from indignant residents.
But, be that as it may, management companies must fulfill their obligations to the city and clients. In case they do not do this, the St. Petersburg Improvement Committee has a 24-hour duty service; applications are accepted by calling 314-60-13. Subordinate enterprises also have hotline numbers; they are published on the official page of the committee. In addition, you can use the feedback platform of the government services portal – access to the “Public Services We Solve Together” application is also available from the committee’s page on VKontakte. You can also contact your local housing agency for questions regarding intra-block cleaning.
“This winter could go down in history. There has never been such a negligent attitude from management companies. City streets are being cleaned, and there are snowdrifts and ice in the courtyards. I recommend that homeowners refuse such management companies. Some organizations cannot or do not want to integrate into the uniform cleaning system that the city is implementing this winter. I know about a lot of complaints about the negligent work of management companies. They don’t work, but save on service. I’m not talking about all management companies. There are also conscientious ones, but, according to my calculations, less than half of them,” Maxim Yushkevichus, an expert in the field of housing and communal services management, director of the Greenland HOA in the Kalininsky district, commented on the situation.
