Meteorologist denies the existence of weather dependence

“Phobos” previously talked about a strong solar flare that occurred on December 14. Meteorological center staff noted that the last time such a powerful outbreak was recorded was in 2017.

Mikhail Leus, a leading Phobos specialist, said that solar flares often precede magnetic storms. People may feel anxious when reading or viewing information about magnetic storms, as “weather dependence” is considered by many to be a widespread phenomenon. However, according to Nina Zaitseva, climatologist and doctor of geographical sciences, there is no direct evidence of the influence of such storms on either the weather or people.

In an interview with RuNews24.Ru, Zaitseva said that a magnetic storm can cause some problems with communications, as well as changes in the atmosphere that affect the transmission of radio signals. However, it has not been proven that people suffer due to magnetic storms.

When asked about the connection between these phenomena and heavy snowfalls over a vast territory of the country, Zaitseva replied that there is no connection between them.

She added that weather changes occur due to natural factors, and not due to magnetic storms. She also noted that climate change in recent decades has also led to changes in the weather.
