With the New Year getting closer, many people are thinking about whether or not to drink alcohol at the holiday table. Champagne has long been a symbol of the New Year.
Nutrition specialist Dinara Gadelmurzina told the online publication “Moscow Region Today” how safe it is to drink alcohol during the holiday and what alternatives there are to champagne for those who want to be healthy.
“Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a safe dose of alcohol. Research shows that any amount of it reduces brain volume. There is no such thing as “healthy” champagne or alcohol. All alcoholic products are very high in calories, and champagne is one of the most high-calorie drinks; 100 grams contain about 90 kilocalories,” Gadelmurzina warned.
For those who cannot give up alcohol, the expert recommends choosing the lowest calorie champagne, such as brut, which contains about 60 kilocalories per 100 grams. Also, do not drink alcohol in large quantities. It is recommended to drink no more than two glasses so that the New Year does not affect your health.
“If you are at an event, you can dilute the champagne with half the water. If you are at home, you can prepare an alternative drink. A liter of highly carbonated mineral water, the juice of one lime and a bunch of mint – all this must be mixed,” Gadelmurzina advised.
