In Russia they proposed to create processing points for Christmas trees

The Association of Nature Users came up with a proposal to create specialized state points throughout Russia for the collection of used New Year trees for subsequent processing. The chairman of the association, Roman Korniets, also expressed the idea of introducing a recycling fee, which will be included in the retail price of the Christmas tree, writes RT.

As Korniets noted, the New Year tree is an integral part of the New Year celebration, and despite the popularity of artificial trees, most Russians prefer real coniferous trees. He emphasized that with the increase in the number of holiday trees, the problem of their disposal arises, and therefore it is necessary to offer effective methods of processing and reuse.

In his address to the Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology, Alexander Kozlov, Korniets proposed considering the possibility of organizing specialized points for the collection of used New Year trees throughout the country. These points could operate from January to March in various regions of Russia.
In addition, the association proposed introducing a recycling fee, which would be included in the price of New Year trees and would go towards supporting the recycling process.
