Krasnodar airport, closed since February 24, 2022, can resume operations after December 15. This was reported by the press service of the regional administration.
According to the information of the Ministry of Transport and Road Facilities of the region, a test flight is expected to be carried out on the mentioned date, based on the results of which a decision will be made on the possibility of opening the airport.
RBC also writes that in addition to Krasnodar, the authorities are considering the option of soon opening the Elista airport.
The Ministry of Transport has not yet made any statements. The press service of Krasnodar Airport has also not yet commented on the information. However, Russian airlines have already responded to the reports. Thus, Rossiya Airlines is ready to resume flights to Krasnodar if the airport opens, TASS notes. The press service of the low-cost carrier Pobeda noted that they could resume flights to Krasnodar after the New Year holidays in 2024 if the airport opens. Aeroflot also announced its readiness to operate up to 4 daily flights between Moscow and Krasnodar if the airport opens.
Let us remind you that 11 airports in Russia have not been operating since last year: Anapa, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Gelendzhik, Krasnodar, Kursk, Lipetsk, Rostov-on-Don, Simferopol and Elista. They have been closed since the beginning of the military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
