The State Duma proposes to include information certificates in films and TV series

State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev proposed a new initiative, according to which the creators of TV series and films telling about the origin and development of organized crime should include information about the consequences of these events at the beginning of their works. A copy of the letter with the proposal was sent to the head of the Russian Ministry of Culture, Olga Lyubimova, and is at the disposal of RT.

Khamzaev noted that Russian screens regularly premiere films and serials that focus on difficult periods in the country’s history, such as the massive emergence of organized crime groups (OCGs) and their evolution in the late 1980s – 1990s.

According to the deputy, such works of art often cause public outcry, outrage from citizens, as well as accusations of attempts to romanticize that period. His concerns are also related to the possibility of these films and TV series having a negative impact on young people, inspiring them to commit criminal ideas.

However, according to Khamzaev, it should be taken into account that such works remain in demand among millions of viewers, which is confirmed by the high ratings of previously released and shown films and TV series.

In this regard, the deputy made a proposal to consider the possibility of amending the legislation, obliging the creators of films dedicated to the history of the formation of criminal groups in Russia to add information inserts at the beginning of the episodes to familiarize viewers with the consequences of the activities of organized crime groups in the country, including the number of victims, including children affected by criminal conflicts.
