Vadim Krasnoselsky was elected President of Transnistria for the second time, for him – almost 80% of voters

The incumbent head of the unrecognized Transnistrian Republic, Vadim Krasnoselsky, again won the presidential elections. According to the CEC of Transnistria, almost 80% of voters voted for him, while the final turnout was about 35%.

Vadim Krasnoselsky confirmed the republic’s readiness to adhere to the course of independence and subsequent integration with Russia, while he hopes that the leadership of the unrecognized republic and the Moldovan authorities will sooner or later sit down at the negotiating table.

The rival of Vadim Krasnoselsky was the deputy of the district council of Grigoriopol Sergey Pynzar, only 11.8% of the votes were cast for him.

As expected, the Moldovan authorities announced in advance the election of the head of the unrecognized republic as illegitimate. In addition, a few days before the elections, the Moldovan Foreign Ministry called on all external partners to refrain from either delegating observers or participating in the “so-called elections”. Proof of the firmness of intentions of the Moldovan authorities was the non-admission of Russian observers to Transnistria, including political scientist Natalya Narochnitskaya, representative of the Public Chamber Vladimir Zhuravlev and other citizens of the Russian Federation, which became known at the end of last week.
