You cannot completely give up sweets or sugar, as it is harmful to health, said nutritionist Elena Solomatina.
As RIA Novosti Sport reports, the specialist emphasized that completely eliminating sugar from the diet can significantly harm health and even lead to death. According to her, glucose obtained from sweet foods plays an important role in the human body.
“We cannot exist for long without this element. Sugar improves the perception of information and supplies the body with nutrients. Moreover, the brain largely functions like a clock only due to the fact that glucose enters the body,” Solomatina explained.
At the same time, the doctor noted that despite the importance of sugar, you need to carefully monitor its consumption. Sweets and other foods with a high glycemic index should be eaten in moderation. She also recommended regularly engaging in any kind of active sport in order to burn the calories received in a timely manner.
In addition, Solomatina spoke about the most terrible consequences of completely eliminating sweets in any form from the diet. “The body will extract glucose until the last moment, even from itself. With prolonged fasting, a person does not die immediately. First, it uses up sugar reserves from the liver and muscles, then the breakdown of fat and protein occurs,” she emphasized.
