Director Alexei German Jr. spoke about his deceased colleague Sergei Soloviev. In an interview with REN TV, he said that the director was a very close friend of his parents.

“It seems to me very decent. It seems to me, with a very tragic fate. Because the death of his son hit him very hard. The death of Valery Rubinchik, with whom he taught a course at VGIK, also hit him very hard. Nevertheless, he worked, – said the channel’s interlocutor. – He was ill for a long time. I know that he hasn’t got out of bed lately. As they say, the era is gone. The great director is gone. “

According to German Jr., Soloviev “was a unique phenomenon for our culture.”

The chairman of the Union of Cinematographers, director Nikita Mikhalkov, noted that director Sergei Soloviev made a very great contribution to Soviet and Russian cinema. He also called Soloviev a pioneer. After all, the director discovered a lot of young people who eventually became stars.

“For example, he opened Tsoi to me. And what I think is the most important – he belonged to the category of directors who can be recognized without reading the title credits. This is an amazing quality when you accidentally walk into the theater in the middle of a screening and realize that it is Fellini or Bergman. You understand it by taste, style, handwriting, ”Mikhalkov said.

The reports of Solovyov’s death were commented on by Robert Tsoi, the father of the leader of the Kino group, Viktor Tsoi. He admitted that he learned about Solovyov’s death a few hours ago.

“I am very sorry. I respected and loved him very much, ”said Robert Tsoi.

The Ministry of Culture also expressed condolences in connection with the death of Solovyov. In a government telegram addressed to the Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation, the ministry indicates that the death of the director is a huge loss for the whole country, he left a bright mark on the history of Russian cinema.

“His work was the embodiment of original ideas, in which the rhythm of the era, the depth of images and the beauty of human relations were always felt,” reads the telegram, the text of which is quoted by RIA Novosti.

“The good memory of Sergei Alexandrovich will remain in the professional community, in the hearts of his devoted fans and spectators. Please convey my deepest condolences to your family and friends. A blessed memory, ”said Olga Lyubimova, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation.
