Petersburg officials considered the birth of a child “deliberate deterioration of living conditions”

In St. Petersburg, employees of one of the district administrations refused to register a family with two children as in need of housing. As reported on the website of the St. Petersburg Ombudsman, the appearance of the second child in the family was regarded by officials as “deliberate deterioration of living conditions.” The relevant issue will now be considered by the court.

The report specifies that a family of four: husband, wife and two children, lives in a thirty-meter “odnushka” and is trying to register as those in need of assistance in improving their living conditions. Formally, they have such a right. The fact is that according to the current regulations, a person must have at least 9 meters of living space, in this case, each has 7.5 square meters.

However, the district administration refused to register, explaining that the family deliberately worsened their living conditions.

“What exactly was the malicious intent, the officials did not explain not only to Alexei, but also to the commissioner,” the release says. – The fourth member of the family registered in the apartment was the youngest son. After that, they began to meet the requirements of “neediness” in terms of footage per head. “

After the officials refused to reconsider their decision, the ombudsman was forced to go to court. The prosecutor’s office also considered the actions of the administration illegal and made a protest. However, officials did not agree with the position of the supervisory authority.

At present, a lawsuit against the district administration for registration of the family’s housing is pending.
