In St. Petersburg, they continue to eliminate the consequences of volley snowfalls. Now all the capacities of road and utility services are being used to quickly remove snow and ice from the highways and streets of the Northern capital.
“We have completed our primary sweeping objectives. sidewalks and roadways, but as a result of this work a shaft was formed – and now our task is to remove it. We start with the main highways in each district and slowly expand to the periphery,” said Egor Pashchenko, director of the Center State Unitary Enterprise.
Road enterprises remove about 40 thousand cubic meters of snow from city streets per day, and in a week its amount reached 220 thousand cubic meters; More than 900 cubic meters of waste were also transported to landfills. It was possible to cope with such volumes thanks to the consolidation of efforts: on the eve of heavy snowfalls, the city governor Alexander Beglov decided to involve the equipment of the construction, energy, and transport infrastructure development committees in the cleaning work. Thanks to this, road workers received additional dump trucks and loaders.
Currently, 897 units of equipment are involved in sweeping streets and highways, as well as removing snow. Narrow streets and bus stop sidewalks are cleaned by 888 manual cleaning workers. In the parks, 950 specialists from gardening enterprises and 284 units of special equipment came out to combat the consequences of the rampant disaster – they are clearing snow from paths and public spaces. In addition, employees of management companies, municipalities and employees of social enterprises are involved in putting urban areas in order.
Let us remind you that at the end of November a powerful cyclone hit St. Petersburg with massive snowfalls and blizzards. In the first days of winter, snow continued to fall, albeit in smaller quantities. As a result, a snow cover up to 48 cm high formed in the city. According to Phobos weather center specialist Mikhail Leus, light snow is still possible in the first days of the week, and from Wednesday an anticyclone will be located in the atmosphere over the North-West, which will reduce the likelihood of precipitation to a minimum and the frost will intensify.
As the Committee for the Improvement of St. Petersburg recalled, the city has organized a 24-hour duty service: you can submit an application by phone. 314-60-13. You can also leave a request using the hotline numbers of subordinate enterprises or through the feedback platform of the government services portal.
