Poland will offer the European Union new sanctions against Belarus. According to RIA Novosti, this was announced by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
“We are also discussing sanctions. We know for sure that Belarus fears economic sanctions, fears a trade blockade. Since there is no escalation today, we see some kind of light in the tunnel. But if it continues, or if Minsk or Minsk and Moscow look for new mechanisms to destabilize this part of Europe, then we will not hesitate to present to the European Commission and our partners new solutions that will aim at a more decisive response to such practices, ” – he noted.
Several thousand migrants have accumulated on the border of Belarus and Poland in recent weeks, hoping to get to the EU countries. The EU states accuse Minsk of deliberately escalating the crisis. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko says that Western countries are to blame for the situation. The conflict was commented on by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who drew attention to the fact that many refugees died on the border of Belarus and Poland.
“How many people there have already died at the border, have already been buried there. They are buried there almost every day, it’s just a disaster, you also need to pay attention to this, ”the President of the Russian Federation added.
