Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev commented on the statement of Pentagon head Lloyd Austin about the Ukrainian crisis and the modernization of the US army. He wrote a post on social media in which he praised the American military man.
In particular, Medvedev liked the statement of Austin, who, speaking at the Reagan Forum on National Defense, noted that the United States is carrying out the largest modernization of the defense industrial base in recent decades, and has also increased funding for ammunition production by half due to the high rate of consumption of American shells in Ukraine . And, according to him, approximately $50 billion is planned to be spent on modernizing the defense industrial base.
“US Secretary of Defense Austin has revealed a military secret. A straightforward and simple-minded person,” Medvedev sarcastically commented on the military man’s statements. “The general did not hesitate to name the reason for US participation in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine,” Medvedev wrote. “No, this is not helping dying citizens or a country disappearing from the world map. No, this is not a fight for democracy against tyranny. This is… the need to modernize the US defense industry by $40 billion,” added the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council. He also admitted that profits from increasing the production of military goods are likely to be received by those close to the administration of US President Joe Biden.
