Klitschko warned Zelensky of retribution

Currently, Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky is paying for his mistakes. This opinion was expressed by the mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko in an interview with the Swiss publication 20min, which was published on December 2.

“There were and are a lot of expectations. Zelensky is paying for the mistakes he made. <…> There was too much information that was not true,” Klitschko noted, as quoted by RBC.

The mayor of Kyiv also explained the decline in Zelensky’s rating. According to him, people see “who is effective and who is not.” Ukrainians are wondering “why the country was not better prepared for the conflict, for what reason Zelensky denied the possibility of full-scale battles until the last day, and also how Russian troops were able to approach Kiev so quickly,” Klitschko noted. He added that for now Zelensky has an important function, but “after the end of the conflict, “every politician will be responsible for his successes or failures.”

Klitschko also expressed support for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, who had previously called the situation in the conflict zone a dead end. Klitschko added that “the general told the truth, but people don’t want to hear it.”

Earlier on December 1, in a conversation with German journalists, Klitschko also criticized Zelensky. According to him, Ukraine is moving towards authoritarianism due to the current policies of the authorities. Ukraine cannot overcome its political differences despite the military conflict. The heads of large cities are removed from their positions because the presidential office considers some of them to be obstacles to the centralization of power. As a result, “Ukraine is turning into a country where everything depends on one person,” Klitschko noted.
