Abnormally cold weather is expected in some Russian regions in the coming days. Russians will have to endure 50-degree frosts, Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, told TASS.
He called the weather anomalies “spectacular.” According to the specialist, in the period from December 2 to 6 in all regions of the Northwestern Federal District frosts will reach 16-23 degrees, and in the Arkhangelsk region, Komi and Nenets Autonomous Okrug – 30 degrees.
The weather forecaster predicts frosts of up to 16-23 degrees in the Central Federal District on December 5 and 6. “This is 7-12 degrees below normal,” Vilfand noted.
Severe cold also awaits residents of the Urals, Volga region, Siberia and the Far East. In the Perm Territory, Kirov Region, Udmurtia and Mari El, the thermometer will drop to 23 degrees, in the Yamalo-Nenets and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – to 30-41 degrees, in the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, Kurgan, Tyumen regions – to 20-27 degrees , and in the Tomsk and Omsk regions – up to 27-35 degrees.
It will be the frostiest in Yakutia – in some places up to minus 54 degrees, and in the Magadan Territory and Chukotka – up to minus 43-49 degrees, the meteorologist added.
Earlier, Vilfand warned that dozens of Russian regions would be covered in snow in December.
