“What does a hairstyle say?”: Psychologists have revealed the connection between hair and character

Is it possible to determine a person’s personality type and emotional state by a person’s hairstyle? Psychologists answer this question in the affirmative, writes “Doctor Peter.”

The media cites the opinion of an expert, clinical psychologist Ekaterina Krasnoshtanova, who is sure that a hairstyle can tell a lot about a person.

Thus, the specialist noted that people who prefer to maintain the same hairstyle throughout their lives have a stable and conservative character. They value predictability and do not like change. In this case, the hairstyle becomes a symbol of their personality and established values, says the psychologist. However, in some cases, refusal to change your hairstyle for many years may also indicate a high level of anxiety: changing your image may be associated with a fear of change.

At the same time, people who constantly change their image and hairstyle are open to new experiences, love to experiment and strive for constant updating. By changing their hairstyle, they express their individuality and creativity.

The expert believes that hairstyle can also tell something about a person’s mental state. For example, unkempt hair can indicate carelessness or depression, while hair that is too neat and perfect can indicate perfectionism or a desire for control. At the same time, a constantly changing hairstyle may indicate an unstable emotional state or a desire to stand out from the crowd.

Psychologist Diana Bergersen adds that women often make the decision to change their image in the event of a divorce or separation. This may be due to desires to start a new chapter in one’s life, to cut ties with a person, to free oneself from a burden, as well as to express individuality and restore self-confidence. At the same time, frequently changing your hairstyle can also be a way to cope with self-doubt or distract attention from some flaws in appearance, the specialist added.
