Bad weather hit the south of Russia. According to Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev, 63 trees and three billboards fell in Sevastopol, the roofs of 20 houses, the cladding of the facades of three buildings, and 17 vehicles were damaged.
Due to hurricane winds, gusts of which reach 40 m/s, a storm warning is in effect in Crimea and Sevastopol, regional authorities report. As a result of a powerful hurricane, about 500 thousand residents of Crimea were left without electricity. The storm knocked down about 40 trees on the territory of the republic and led to a massive breakdown of power transmission lines. The Chernomorsky, Saki, Belogorsky, Simferopol, Oktyabrsky, Bakhchisarai, and Leninsky districts suffered the most.
The Black Sea overflowed its shores, as a result, roads were partially flooded, and the water washed away city beaches.
During the storm in Yevpatoria and Simferopol, seven people were injured, two of them were hospitalized, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reports. A total of 311 people were evacuated, including 43 children.
The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, declared November 27 a day off due to unfavorable weather conditions.
Meanwhile, the Krasnodar region remains under the threat of a major weather collapse. A peak with 10-meter waves is forecast after midnight on November 27. The storm may continue until the morning.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a mudflow occurred in Novorossiysk, more than 250 trees were knocked down. The storm also reached Anapa, where classes in schools and kindergartens were canceled on November 27. And in Sochi, due to the fall of trees on the contact line of the railway tracks, passenger trains were delayed, the operational headquarters of the Krasnodar Territory reported.
In addition, a message appeared on the website of the North Ossetian traffic management center that due to bad weather, the Georgian Military Road, the only land route connecting Russia with Georgia and Armenia, was closed. And now 2,100 cars are waiting to enter Georgia from the Russian side.
