“Confusion with cemeteries, a closed coffin and a rush”: the media learned the details of Prigozhin’s funeral

On August 29, the day of the funeral of an entrepreneur involved in the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, there was confusion – many journalists and acquaintances of the businessman were on duty at several cemeteries in St. Petersburg, expecting that the farewell ceremony would not take place where it was officially announced. An employee of the Porokhovsky cemetery, where the businessman was eventually buried, spoke about this, who identified himself as Nikolai, writes News.ru.

According to him, the cemetery management was informed two days in advance that Prigozhin would be brought to them. According to Nikolai, about 40 people were present at the entrepreneur’s funeral, the ceremony itself passed quickly – the coffin with the body was not opened, no speeches were made.

Now the businessman’s grave is visited every day by some people – these are guests and residents of St. Petersburg, the cemetery worker added. He said that there is not a day when someone does not visit Prigozhin’s grave. Visited by both military and civilians. Most of the visitors are women. According to him, they are “always crying.” “Many women – they always cry. It seems to me that during his lifetime women loved him very much,” added the cemetery worker.

Let us recall that the business jet of PMC founder Evgeniy Prigozhin, flying from Moscow to St. Petersburg, crashed in the Tver region on the evening of August 23, killing passengers and crew members. According to the Russian Investigative Committee, the remains found at the scene of the plane crash “correspond to the list stated in the flight manifest.” According to the airline, it included Yevgeny Prigozhin and the commander of the Wagner group, Dmitry Utkin. An investigation into the cause of the plane crash is underway.
