The government of St. Petersburg is currently discussing the issue of increasing public transport fares in 2024.
Let us remind you that the draft city budget for next year includes an increase in tariffs at the rate of inflation – 4.95%. As a result, the cost of travel in the metro may rise from 70 to 73 rubles, in ground urban public transport – from 65 to 68 rubles, and a monthly single ticket, which includes travel on a tram, trolleybus, bus and metro – from 3,665 to 3,846 rubles.
According to estimates by the St. Petersburg Tariff Committee, among the total expenses of one city resident for housing, utilities and transport services, the latter account for almost 50%. As Fonatnka reported, in order for fares to remain unchanged next year, an additional 2 billion rubles from the budget would be required.
However, as RosBalt learned, the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, is against raising tariffs. The city budget shows steady growth and remains socially oriented. At the same time, a large role in the development of St. Petersburg is given to transport infrastructure – 48 billion rubles are planned to be spent on it in 2024. According to the governor, the city’s income level makes it possible not to increase the financial burden on its residents in the form of increased prices for public transport.
Let us recall that last week the Russian government set limits for increasing utility tariffs. However, their final sizes are approved by regional governments.
