Chechen Minister Dudayev called the director Sokurov “provocateur” and “half-wit”

The Chechen Minister for National Policy, Foreign Relations, Press and Information Akhmed Dudayev called the director Alexander Sokurov “a provocateur dancing to the tune of the Western masters.”

Sokurov, at a meeting between the President of the Russian Federation and members of the Human Rights Council, expressed the opinion that the republics of the North Caucasus currently have a pronounced “national character” and suggested that those who do not want to live with Russia be released. Vladimir Putin responded by suggesting that you be more careful when discussing interethnic relations.

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, said that the director’s statements about federalism in Russia should be given a legal assessment of “an anti-state and extremist fact.”

Akhmed Dudayev writes on Instagram that Sokurov “has long joined the column of madmen and chauvinists who want to experience happiness on national feelings and human blood”. He called the director’s words separatist and considered it a provocation directed against the country. Also, the minister calls the renowned director a “half-wit”. He accompanied his post with a photograph of Alexander Sokurov with the inscription “Enemy of the People”.

“It’s like not loving your own country in order to encroach on its integrity before the president! Let me not let you, Sokurov! You should be tried for inciting ethnic hatred. I want to draw the attention of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation that Sokurov’s statements violate the constitutional provisions enshrined in Part 2.1 of Art. 67 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, which prohibits calls for the alienation of a part of the territory of the Russian Federation, ”Dudaev said in a statement.
