Finnish Defense Force Commander: Russia may “attack” Ukraine in January

The commander of the Finnish Defense Forces, General Timo Kivinen, considers it possible for Russia to “attack” Ukraine in the coming months. He stated this in an interview with the Ykkösaamu program.

At the same time, referring to intelligence data, the general indicated that Russia has concentrated about 100 thousand troops on the border with Ukraine, and, according to intelligence forecasts, the invasion may begin in January, reports Yle.

“Now there (on the Russian-Ukrainian border – ed.) There is an exceptional concentration of troops,” Kivinen emphasized.

Recall that over the past month, the world media has filled the topic of the alleged Russian invasion of Ukraine and the sanctions that should follow. According to the authors and experts of these publications, a sign of an “invasion” is the concentration of Russian military equipment in the regions bordering on Ukraine.

Earlier, Swedish specialist in Russian and Doctor of Military Sciences Oskar Jonsson warned in an interview with the daily Aftonbladet that the hypothetical Russian invasion of Ukraine would surpass the most impressive forecasts of the Ukrainian military.

However, today the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov told the Greek TV channel ANT1 that Russia is not going to strike at Ukraine, although it has the right to move its troops across its own territory.

At the same time, he made it clear that Russia is worried about the concentration of NATO and US soldiers on Greek territory, the transfer of military equipment of the alliance through the Greek port of Alexandroupolis.
