Sugar can be eaten daily, but its amount should not exceed 10% of the total daily food intake. This was reported by nutritionist Elena Solomatina, the Izvestia newspaper writes.

The doctor added that this applies to absolutely all types of sugar – white, brown, refined and unrefined, cane or beetroot. According to the doctor, the portion mentioned is conditional, designed for the average person.

At the same time, doctors from the World Health Organization (WHO) recommend limiting daily sugar intake to 12 teaspoons, or 50 g.

In the meantime, nutritionists recommend adhering to an individual measure and calculating the daily sugar intake from the total number of calories an adult needs, writes Vechernyaya Moskva. So, people who do not lead an active lifestyle should consume no more than 25 g of sugar per day, those who visit the gym at least three times a week can increase this amount to 40 g, and those involved in strength exercises are allowed without harm For health, eat up to 50 g daily. For example, a woman weighing 65 kilograms who leads a sedentary lifestyle requires about 1,500 calories per day, of which 150 calories can come from sugar – approximately 38 g, or 10 teaspoons, nutritionists have determined.
