The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, responded to the statement of ex-NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen about Ukraine’s entry into the alliance in parts.
Speaking at the briefing, she recalled that Russia has to constantly clarify its position on this matter. Zakharova emphasized that for Moscow, Ukraine’s accession to NATO is unacceptable. “In parts or without any parts, in any form, Ukraine’s entry into the Atlantic bloc is unacceptable for Russia,” Zakharova said, recalling that the position of the Russian Federation has remained unchanged since 2008, when NATO first offered Ukraine membership in the association.
“The participation of this military state in a military alliance poses a threat to the security of our country,” explained the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry. She also added that this country, according to the stated goals and objectives of the North Caucasian Military District, must remain a neutral state.
Earlier, the British newspaper The Guardian reported that Rasmussen spoke in favor of inviting Ukraine to become a member of the alliance, but only within the borders controlled by Kyiv.
Earlier, Zakharova harshly commented on Zelensky’s attempts to get through to Trump.
