“Discussing Ukraine”: the new German Chancellor held his first talks with the Presidents of the United States and France

The Ukrainian crisis has become one of the main topics of negotiations between the new German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, with the presidents of France and the United States.

On December 10, Scholz made his first visit with the rank of German Chancellor to Paris, where he met with French leader Emmanuel Macron, a transcript of the conversation was later published on the website of the German government. It is noted that the two leaders spoke about Ukraine. Scholz admitted that he is worried about the situation on the border with Ukraine, where, according to him, “there are a lot of soldiers.” He called for the resuscitation of negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Donbass in the Normandy format, and also assured that Germany would act so that “Ukraine has good prospects.”

A little later, the new German Chancellor held telephone talks with American President Joe Biden. They also discussed the situation near the borders of Ukraine and the solution to the problem of Russia’s increasing the number of troops.

Recall that Angela Merkel has been the Chancellor of Germany since 2005. This year she refused to participate in the elections. The victory was won by Olaf Scholz. On December 2, Merkel was played punk rock, and Scholz took office.
