The investigation is looking into the story of a shooting and a fight near a restaurant on Shlyuzovaya Embankment in the center of Moscow, the instigator of which is considered to be European boxing champion Nikita Ivanov. According to operatives quoted by RBC, the reason for the athlete’s aggressive behavior was a request to smoke.
It is noted that Ivanov allegedly asked the 21-year-old student for a cigarette when he and his companion were leaving the restaurant. At the same time, the athlete leaned on the shoulder of 21-year-old student of the geological faculty of Moscow State University Oleg Gusarevich, who was standing with the company at the entrance to the restaurant. Gusarevich asked Ivanov to remove his hand, the media writes. In response, the athlete struck the student several times, and he tried to defend himself. Afterwards, security officers left the restaurant, and Ivanov got into a fight with one of them. When the guards tried to block his actions, he pulled out a pistol. Four men were injured as a result of the shooting.
Ivanov was detained. A criminal case has been opened against the boxer under the article “Hooliganism”. A ballistic examination of the firearm used to wound four people has been ordered. The investigation will also examine how Ivanov ended up with a traumatic pistol. It is known that the athlete had previously been prosecuted – in April 2007, he opened fire with a traumatic pistol in the Eastern Administrative District of Moscow, as a result the man received moderate injuries.
