They denounce alleged police abuse during an operation

He said in a letter written on the Twitter social network that on Friday afternoon he approached to withdraw money in a cashier to buy hearing aids that he saw on the internet. Done the retreat he took a photo to send to the person he was going to meet.

Almost immediately he was approached by a man who without greeting and rudely asked for his documents. Then another man approached him, told him he was a policeman and to stop to do a search. Having just withdrawn money and in front of unknown people and without a police uniform, what I did was go to a nearby shopping center to ask for help, that two people were following him and that he called the Police.

“Back then people caught me and with blows and abuse of force they threw me to the ground, they kicked me the shoes, they tear my shirt, they took my cell phone, they put me my foot on my neck while people insulted me (they are going to put you in jail, they are going to rape you in jail, by people like you (…) the country is as it is, Negro go to your country, etcetera, etcetera) and they take photos and videos of me, “said Ocles.

Between 4 and 5 police officers on foot and between 5 and 6 motorized police arrived at the scene. Ocles had already been handcuffed and was followed, allegedly by the uniformed men, while for 15 minutes they he was in the parking lot of the mall people were yelling racist things at him and they told him to leave the country, thinking that he was not Ecuadorian, he recalled.

In a patrol car they would have taken him to the UPC de la Carolina, to the north of the city, where they would have reviewed his documents and his cell phone. The manager of the bank from which Jimmy He took money from the ATM and they allegedly indicated that he was “a suspect because in the morning there was an attempted robbery at the bank.”

When they did not find anything, the uniformed men would have decided that he should “just leave.”

The message published along with five photos of Jimmy Ocles generated total rejection in the community and even assembly members such as Fausto Jarín joined, who asked that this fact be denounced.

From the National Police a statement was issued informing that in the face of the complaint made by networks internal administrative investigations will be carried out in order to clarify this police procedure. The institution reiterated that its actions are transparent and framed in legal regulations, with unrestricted respect for human rights.

The Purple Canela Association made a letter of support to the “brother and friend” for such a “reprehensible act of discrimination.” “We need your support to fight against the police abuse of bad guys elements, “said a letter on his Facebook account calling for a virtual meeting. (I)
