“No successes, only losses”: Shoigu summed up the “results” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ counter-offensive

Over the entire period of the counteroffensive since June 4 of this year, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have lost over 90 thousand military personnel killed and wounded. This was stated by the head of the Russian Ministry of Defense Sergei Shoigu at the tenth Beijing Xiangshan Forum, he was quoted by RIA Novosti.

“Only since June 4, Kyiv has lost over 90 thousand military personnel killed and wounded, about 600 tanks and almost 1,900 armored vehicles of various classes. At the same time, no tactically significant successes were achieved on the battlefield,” the minister noted.

He added that “the West has openly set its sights on inflicting a ‘strategic defeat’ on Russia,” and “Ukraine has been cynically chosen as a battering ram.”

At the same time, Moscow is ready to discuss both the post-conflict resolution of the Ukrainian crisis and further coexistence with the West in general, the defense minister emphasized, but added that political discussions must be based on realistic principles. It is necessary to ensure equal relations between all nuclear powers, including permanent members of the UN Security Council, the minister noted. He also called for updating the international security architecture and giving it greater stability, Shoigu added.

Earlier, Shoigu noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine “have fewer and fewer opportunities.” According to him, over the past three to four weeks, many Ukrainian military personnel were captured by the Russian Armed Forces and voluntarily surrendered.
