Police in Yakutia detained a man suspected of murdering four people in the city of Mirny, said Russian Interior Ministry spokeswoman Irina Volk.
According to the department, a 50-year-old local resident was detained; a registered 12-gauge hunting rifle was found at his home, and it was confiscated. The police also identified another man, an alleged witness to the crime. Both were taken to the territorial division of the Investigative Committee.
According to the materials of the criminal case, on the evening of October 22, the bodies of four people with gunshot wounds were found in a house on a summer cottage in Mirny: men born in 1978 and 1981 and women born in 1986 and 1987, the press service of the regional department of the Investigative Committee said.
A criminal case was initiated under paragraph “a” of Part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code (murder of two or more persons). The maximum penalty under this article is imprisonment for a term of up to 20 years.
One of the victims, a 42-year-old man, was prosecuted in 2014 for non-payment of alimony; The 36-year-old deceased woman was prosecuted in August 2020 for fraud using electronic means of payment, writes MK, citing a source in law enforcement agencies.
