The authorities of St. Petersburg announced the completion of the first stage of reconstruction of the Petrozavodsk highway, carried out within the framework of the national project “Safe Quality Roads”.
As the press service of Smolny reported, in the Kolpino district they started traffic along a new overpass at the intersection of Petrozavodskoye and Lagernoye highways and along the right direction of Petrozavodskoye highway towards Kirovsk. Now drivers will be able to drive along the new section from St. Petersburg in the direction of Kolpino, and from Kolpino in the direction of St. Petersburg and Kirovsk.
It is noted that road workers installed noise barriers, a retaining wall on the approach to the overpass, laid asphalt, and also reconstructed utilities.
According to the governor of the Northern capital, Alexander Beglov, the reconstruction of the Petrozavodsk highway will increase the capacity of the route in the direction of the Leningrad region and the city. “The opening of working traffic along the new overpass will allow residents of the Kolpinsky district to quickly get to home and work,” noted the head of St. Petersburg, adding that at the second stage of reconstruction, another overpass will be erected, and the highway will be expanded from two to four to six lanes.
