The military conflict in the Middle East between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement risks escalating into a regional military conflict or a global war. This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, his opinion is presented in an article published in the Izvestia newspaper.
“There is another war in the Middle East. The war is brutal, without rules. A war based on terror and the doctrine of disproportionate use of force against the civilian population,” Medvedev said.
He added that it is much more important for Russia what is happening in the zone of military operation in Ukraine, but Moscow also cannot ignore the fighting between the Israeli Defense Forces and Hamas.
The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council emphasized that the unstable, explosive region is very useful for America – “not a single US administration has ever been interested in a final settlement in the Middle East.” Therefore, holding any peace negotiations to resolve the current conflict with the participation of the United States is doomed to failure in advance, Medvedev is sure.
Let us remind you that Israel and Hamas have been conducting active military operations since October 7. On this day, the Palestinian movement fired rockets into Israeli territory. Israel responded by launching a special operation and blockading the Gaza Strip. Palestine reported 3 thousand dead as a result of the fighting. According to the World Health Organization, half of those killed in the Gaza Strip were women and children. Israel reported more than 1.4 thousand victims of the conflict on its side.
