WSJ: Only foreigners and Palestinians with Western passports will be released from Gaza through the Rafah checkpoint

Only Palestinians with passports from the United States and other Western countries will be able to leave the Gaza Strip through the Rafah checkpoint according to the evacuation plan developed by the United States, Egypt and Israel, TASS reports, citing The Wall Street Journal.

According to the publication, the population of the Gaza Strip, numbering more than 2 million people, will not be able to evacuate to Egypt through the Rafah checkpoint, since the Egyptian side does not want to accept a large number of refugees. Only those Palestinians who have a US or other Western state passport, as well as humanitarian workers, will be able to leave the territory.

The newspaper also reports that Egypt has agreed to deliver humanitarian aid to a collection point in the Gaza Strip near the Rafah checkpoint. Egyptian officials told the publication that the United States is trying to reach agreements with Israel so that the IDF does not attack humanitarian aid vehicles.

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal wrote that US citizens would be the first to leave the Gaza Strip through the Rafah checkpoint. After them, persons with dual citizenship of the United States and another state, citizens of other Western countries, employees of the UN and other humanitarian organizations, and, finally, employees of international companies can pass through the checkpoint.
