“We use Soviet junk”: the Ukrainian Armed Forces spoke about problems at the front and the advantage of the Russian army

The Russian army is superior to the Ukrainian one. This was stated by the commander of the 128th mountain assault brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Colonel Dmitry Lisyuk in an interview with The Guardian.

According to him, the Russian army has a numerical advantage, more advanced electronic warfare systems, as well as reconnaissance equipment. At the same time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces, in particular its 128th brigade, use outdated Soviet armored vehicles.

Lisyuk also assessed the situation on the battlefield and the successes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. “It’s very difficult for us to move forward. There is an impressive defense there,” the colonel admitted.

He explained that, for example, the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the south of the Zaporozhye region was “heavy,” which was due to numerous minefields, an extensive network of trenches and Russian reconnaissance assets. He cited the lack of aviation as limiting the offensive. Regarding the possible advance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the southern direction this year, Lisyuk said that this is “difficult to predict.”

Let us remind you that the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian army began in June of this year. The day before, Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky admitted that the counteroffensive is not proceeding at the pace we would like, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces, according to him, intend to continue the counteroffensive in the winter. According to The New York Times, Russia occupied 302 square meters. km more than Ukraine managed to occupy. On October 15, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Ukrainian counteroffensive had failed completely, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces were planning some operations at the front.
